“We received grant money (thanks to Gloria and Scott from Pathstone and Ryan from WISE) to help cover some of the cost, so with that added level of paperwork, the process took longer than most home improvement projects I imagine. I ended up getting a new furnace and hot water heater (which were about 10+ years old). We also got some electrical work done and insulated our exterior walls and as well as under the attic floor boards. The prices were fair (when you count labor +materials + tax + warranty, and not having to do it myself) and we were able to put any remaining cost on our RG&E bill.
“The staff technicians were so kind and professional, they really educated me about my home. They are good folks who do good jobs. They take the extra step in making sure everything works right. For example: Ryan texted and emailed me to make sure the paperwork was all set or when they’ll be by. It’s rare to find that kind of communication and attentiveness from contractors.
“It was a lot of work, and when you have people coming in and out of your home for days at a time over the course of months, it takes a toll and impacts your routine. But we could appreciate that the sub-contractors they used were hard-working, and at the end, everyone gets to leave with a win-win.
“Most importantly, my house feels great! I was always freezing, with space heaters on at all times. But now, I’m so much more comfortable, and I notice there are no more icicles on my house (uninsulated attic means heat rose to melt the snow on my roof which turned into icicles, which is also dangerous – and brought down my gutters last year).
“They say my RG&E bill is supposed to go down just enough to cancel out the cost of the improvements over 10 years-ish. I’ll come back and provide an update after the winter.
“I highly recommend WISE for energy home improvement work.
“I was NOT paid for this review.”
We test before and after install so we know it works!
